Tonight’s dinner is soup again! Monday’s dinner was ‘Sayur Manis’ aka Shu Zai Choi Soup and today’s dinner is ABC Soup. What to do? It’s easy to cook soup.
Why is it called ABC Soup? I think it’s because it’s easy to cook. You know, there is an English idiom ‘as easy as ABC’?
It’s supposed to be ABC Vegetable Soup, but I forgot to buy cabbage at the market this morning. So, it’s ABC Soup.

Ingredients:
2 chicken ribs
3 potatoes, peeled, cut into chunks
3 tomatoes, peeled, cut into wedges
2 carrots, peeled, cut into chunks
2 large onions, cut into chunks
1 tbsp whole white pepper, crushed
1 litre water
Oyster sauce
Salt
Instructions:
1. Blanch chicken ribs in boiling water for about 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water, set aside.
2. Add water, blanched chicken ribs and all the ingredients into slow cooker. Bring to boil and then simmer over low fire for another hour.
3. Season with salt or/and oyster sauce if needed.
Though I forgot to buy cabbage, I did buy another vegetable. It’s called Hiong Mak Tam in Cantonese. What is it called in English and Bahasa Malaysia, please?
This is what I did to the vegetable, Heong Mak Tam. After washing and removing the leaves from the stems, I threw them into the pot of ABC Soup and let them cooked. When they are cooked, scoop them out and serve on the plate.
What a super lazy way of preparing vegetable dish, right? But don’t you think it’s healthier than frying the vegetable? Besides, the yummy soup makes the vegetable tasty.
